Obituary of Mabel Ann Usyk

Mabel Usyk, 84, of Valatie, NY, passed away peacefully on April 5th, 2024, in Lenox, MA. Born in Hudson, NY on April 20th, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Henry B. and Dorothy (Williams) Tator, Sr.
Mabel grew up in both Valatie and North Chatham, NY . She was a graduate of Ichabod Crane Central Schools. Many will remember her big wave and smile as she delivered mail for USPS on the rural routes of Valatie. She was one of the first in the area to sell manufactured homes in the mid 70's. She worked for Golden Acres Mobile Home Sales where she and her sister Pearl were known as the "Golden Girls".
Earlier in her life, she was a member of the Chatham BPW, the Tri-Village Ladies Auxiliary, the Kinderhook Lake Improvement Association and the Red Hats. She also worked as a poll worker for the many elections throughout the years
An avid horsewoman, Mabel raised and enjoyed riding her many horses over the years. She was also known for her cooking and baking. Throughout the years she hosted many families and friends with her parties and celebrations. Known to all as "Aunt Mabel's Kitchen".
She is survived by her children, Rhonda (Steve), Lisa (Keith) and Richard (Laurie) Usyk; her greatest gift, granddaughter, Ashley Goodrich; her favorite niece, Debbie Hahn Ostrowksi; many nephews and her Weimaraner, Mollie.
Mabel was predeceased by her husband, Richard M. Usyk, her sister, Pearl Ingham, her brothers, Fred and Henry Tator, Jr., nephews, Robert, Danny and David Tator and her companion Howard VanHoesen.
Funeral Services will be 11AM, Thursday at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, Valatie with Reverend Dave Krott officiating. Burial will follow at the North Chatham Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7PM, Wednesday at the funeral home.
