I remember Karen as being a kind and patient gymnastics instructor to me when I was young. I was one of her first students at the Red Rock garage location and LOVED every class. I was lucky enough to be able to send my daughter to KJ’s this past summer and introduce her to Karen. What a beautiful legacy Karen leaves behind and such a lasting gift she has built for the community in KJ’s. Her smile and kindness will be missed by many.

Karen, you always seemed to have a smile on your face whenever I saw you. And though we have only seen each other in person a couple of times , it was evident that you loved desserts and you had an immense passion for helping kids succeed in gymnastics . Your tenacious spirit was contagious to those around you ! I hope to have even just half of the servants heart you did for your community, family and friends. You have brought many a smile to those around you and I am glad to have met the wonderful lady who brought my best friends husband into this world. You have left behind a wonderful legacy of serving your community to say the very least. You are an inspiring example of how to love and serve others and I am happy to have known you .

Though we only knew Karen a year, it was her commitment to making gymnastics fun and playful that made us want our daughter to learn through her . We are so grateful we were able to be in her presence and are thankful for the kindness she has shown our family

What a beautiful legacy Karen leaves behind. She's helped countless children discover a love for movement and challenged them to be an even better version of themselves. The Smithson family - Grant, Camille, and Ryan - are proud to have known her. We'll miss her smile around the gym, but we also know she'll be there every day in spirit. Her influence lives on...

Karen created a safe home away from home with KJ's Gymnastics for all my girls starting when they were so small to teenage-hood. She always shared her love and wisdom with them. Karen was a great first boss to my oldest, allowing her to develop those natural responsibility-skills while keeping up with the expectations of KJ's. (Alicia) Karen was a caring and insightful friend to another daughter, always allowing her to be her unique-self (Katelyn) and a motivating force for another (Trinity) telling her to just try your best and not give up. Such perfect lessons to receive from such a great person! Our family was so blessed to feel a part of the love and caring that Karen and her family gave us throughout the years. The Leggett family will always feel like part of our extended family forever, with Karen as the leader of it all. It didn't matter if it were the Chatham Fair, or the many other adventures that Karen took her gymnastics troops on, you knew as a parent that your kids were safe, and having a great learning experience of a lifetime. I can't express how much gratitude I have for who Karen was. I will miss her smile and almost always the witty chatter you would get from a simple hello to her. What a special lady! My heart is sad. My heart is so happy to have had known her and I will always remember her with the most deepest love for sharing her life with the Armstrongs.

Please accept our sincere condolences. I met Karen only last year after enrolling my kids at KJ's. I loved watching her work with the kiddos; she was so warm and fun! She had that experienced, "no nonsense" vibe about her too which I appreciated. You could tell she was passionate about her work. I always appreciated the way she made us feel so welcome. It sounds like she was a lovely person who will be missed dearly. My heart goes out to your family in the days and weeks ahead. Love, the Kendall Family

Karen gave so much of herself to my children, the whole county’s somersault- back-flipping kids. She is remembered for her generosity, her ever present positivity and smile, her steady presence at Ghent Reformed Church and MacHayden Theater. And of course where would we all be without her banana cream pie! She will be missed. May God bless those she touched with her love. Nancy Ranft

Dear Leggett family,
Karen's smile and energy will be greatly missed. Our hearts are heavy hearing this news. One of our fondest memories of Karen was how proud she was of her summer campers performance in circus week. She created a safe, fun place for our entire community to enjoy.
With Our Deepest Sympathy,

I have known Karen since my years at Yury’s and later reconnected when my kids were her students at KJ’s. She had a way about her, so positive and kind, and I loved the way she welcomed everyone at the gym and made gymnastics fun not competitive. I will always remember how on weekdays before the gym opened I often stopped by for a visit and we would share old stories and laughter for so long the time would get away from us. I am grateful to have known Karen. My deepest sympathy goes out to her family. May they find peace at this difficult time.

Karen made a place for kids to be kids, she’s impacted so many lives over her life, including mine and my brothers. I can not think of enough words to describe how thankful I am to have worked for and met KJ. She was always the nicest and caring person, and brought joy to so many families and children.
You gave me a place growing up that I considered a safe place, where I was comfortable and able to have fun and be a kid.
You also gave my little brother James, the same space, same love, and caring ness you gave me after all these years,
and I can never thank you enough for that.
“A life that touches others, goes on forever” KJ was a part of this community and she will always be loved and missed, but never forgotten . Thank you for everything, for your love, your care, and your hospitality, thank you for being you.

Karen's vibrant spirit, shown through her witty humor and welcoming nature, wove a golden thread into the fabric of everyone's life she touched. Her game days at the gym were always fun filled. Her love and enthusiasm for the Mac and the troupe was always evident in her many roles she played there.
Witnessing Karen infuse each flip and tumble with love in those gymnastics classes taught my grandkids more than just somersaults. As we mourn the loss, may we take solace in knowing that Heaven is now laughing a little louder. Farewell, quirky conductor of giggles! Fly high and land soft, Karen.

I always enjoyed talking with Karen at the MacHaydn. She always had a smile. After many years of sitting at dress rehearsals and wondering who it was that she reminded me of, it finally dawned on me that she looked like a Pulver. So I asked and we had a good laugh. Her older sister, Marbry was one of a group of girls in elementary school that I played with.
