Joan E. Furey, 80, of Valatie, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2024. Born on August 7, 1944, in Virginia to Frank and Agnes (Fey) Stuckart, Joan lived a life full of love, faith and family. Joan was the beloved wife of the late James R. Furey. She dedicated many years as the clerk for the Town of Rhinebeck and later served as the secretary to the Chief of Police for the County of Rensselaer. A devout communicant of St. John the Baptist Church in Valatie, Joan's faith was a guiding force throughout her life. Joan is survived by her three children, Daniel J. (Glory) Furey of Navarre, FL, Christine A. (William) Fahey of Chatham, NY, and Jennifer M. (Joe) Kolb of Valatie, NY, all of whom were her greatest source of pride and joy. She also leaves behind her siblings, Christian Stuckart of Myrtle Beach, SC, Robert Stuckart of White Plains, NY, Gregory Stuckart of Valatie, NY, Anne Margolis of Atlanta, GA, and Marlene Blumberg of Cameron Park, CA. Joan's legacy lives on through her cherished grandchildren: Andrew Fahey, Nathaniel Fahey, Daniel Furey, Sabrina Furey, Eva Kolb, Jenna Kolb, JJ Kolb, and Grace Kolb. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during calling hours on Thursday, October 24th, from 4-6 PM at Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Friday, October 25th, at St. John The Baptist Church, Valatie. Interment will follow at St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
