Obituary of Barry Wayne Jamason

Barry Wayne Jamason, 86, of Nassau, NY, passed away on October 16th at St Peter's Hospital in Albany, NY. Barry was born in Burlington, VT to Annette and Wayne Jamason on December 28th, 1937. He attended high school at Vincentian Institute and graduated in 1955. After three semesters at Duke University he went on to earn Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees in Education from the University at Albany. After graduation he worked as a schoolteacher in Cohoes and Schalmont School Districts, and at Albany Academy. From 1964-1969 he worked in the Department of Defense's overseas dependent schools in England (Lakenheath) and Germany (Frankfurt, Karlsruhe). He then returned to Albany to spend thirty years at the NY State Education Department developing secondary and continuing education materials, with an emphasis on environmental education. Barry enjoyed engaging with old and new friends, traveling extensively, and attending University at Albany Men's and Women's basketball games. Barry is survived by his wife, Xiao Qing Wang of Niskayuna, NY; his sons, Mark and Paul Jamason of San Diego, CA; and his grandson, Caden Jamason of San Diego, CA. A memorial service followed by burial will occur in early 2025 at St Agnes Cemetery in Menands, NY.
