Obituary of Thomas E. Campion

Thomas Edward Campion, 84, of Valatie, NY, passed away peacefully at home early Monday morning, October 14, 2024, surrounded by his six beloved children. Born on January 19, 1940, in Brooklyn, NY, Thomas was the son of Thomas Edward Campion Sr. of Brooklyn and Florence Campion (Mathson), who hailed from Sweden. He spent most of his life in Brooklyn, working as a plumber before he and his wife, Bernadette Marie Campion (née McCauley), moved upstate to raise their family. The two shared an extraordinary 66 years of marriage before Bernadette's passing on November 28, 2023. Their union was marked by deep love, family devotion, and shared faith. Thomas worked over 30 years at Altec Steel Company in Watervliet, NY, retiring as a proud and dedicated employee. Thomas's greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his children, Kevin (Christine), Sean (Jackie), Anne Marie (Billy), Elizabeth (Chris), Donna, and Christine (Mark). His legacy also includes 17 cherished grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. A devout Catholic, Thomas was a communicant of St. John's Church in Valatie and most recently attended The Church of St. Joseph's in Stuyvesant Falls. His faith was a cornerstone of his life and provided great comfort to him and his family. Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024, from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook St., Valatie, NY 12184. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 2:00 PM at The Church of St. Joseph's in Stuyvesant Falls, NY. Interment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery, Stuyvesant Falls.
