Juanita May (Snyder) Knott passed away peaceful on August 1,2024. She was the daughter of Floyd Alexander Snyder and Laura May (Clapper) Snyder and was born on November 14,1930 in Ghent, NY. She was predeceased by her husband, George Knott, Jr. and cousin/brothers, Reginald Conklin and Gordon Conklin. Juanita is survived by her sons, Jon (Susan), Cape Coral, FL, Ronald (Cathy), Stuyvesant, NY, Richard (Dona) of East Chatham, NY and her daughter, Susan (Jim) Brignull in Niverville, NY. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 8 great, great grandchildren. Juanita graduated from Union University School of Nursing at Albany Hospital in 1951. Following graduation, Juanita worked with Dr. John Kiley at the first hemodialysis unit at Albany Hospital. After her family moved to Stuyvesant in 1960, she worked part time as an RN at Columbia Memorial Hospital and later at the office of Dr. Matthew Asbornsen in Kinderhook, NY. While her children were growing up, Juanita was actively involved with both Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, serving as a Stuyvesant Cub Scout Den leader, a Junior Girl Scout Leader, Service team leader member and chairperson for the Ichabod Crane Girl Scout neighborhood. An interest in family genealogy and local history led to Juanita's volunteering and becoming an Administrative Assistant at the Columbia County Historical Society. She then accepted the appointment as Town Historian for Stuyvesant in 1996. There will be a private family viewing at Bond Funeral Home, Valatie, on Tuesday, August 6, and the public is invited to join us in a celebration of life at the Town Hall in Stuyvesant at 4pm.
