Robert Anthony Guerriero of Kinderhook, NY, distinguished Army veteran, business entrepreneur, and active community member, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2024.
Born on May 28, 1942 and raised in Schenectady NY, Bob graduated from Linton High School in Schenectady. In 1966 he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY. Commissioned into the Army upon graduation, he served with distinction as a Field Artillery Officer during the Vietnam War, where he earned two Bronze Star medals. Upon his return, he then earned an MBA from Southern Illinois University.
Longtime resident of Kinderhook, NY, since 1977, Bob was active in civic and social organizations for decades. He served as a Village Trustee, member of the Troop Committee for Boy Scout Troop 113, founding member of the 7th Albany County Militia Revolutionary War reenactment regiment, and member of the Old Chatham Hunt Club. With his entrepreneurial spirit, Bob established and operated North Pointe Cultural Arts Center for many years.
Over his long professional career, Bob served as a licensed real estate agent, stock broker, and a leader in the New York State Department of Social Services. He then founded a successful software development company and served as its president for over 40 years.
Bob's many wide-ranging interests included woodworking, oil painting, music, photography, horticulture, and anything mechanical, never shying away from any repair or renovation project no matter the size or scale.
Bob is survived by Marian (Martorana), his wife of 57 years, four sons and their families – Robert and Lisa (Benjamin, Elizabeth), Michael and Tara (Ted and wife Maddie, Sophia, Spencer, Bailey), Christopher and Amy (Gabriel, Amanda, Kathryn), David and Candice (Aeden, Stella), sister Linda, and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephew.
Calling hours will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm on Wednesday, June 19, at Bond Funeral Home in Valatie, NY. Services will be held on Thursday, June 20, at 10:00 am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Valatie, NY.
A military burial at West Point will follow at a later date.
