Obituary of Daniel G. Main

Daniel G. Main II, 76 of Castleton-on-Hudson NY passed away peacefully at Van Rensselaer Manor Nursing Home of Troy- Saturday April 13th, 2024. Daniel was born July 7th, 1947 in Albany, NY. He was the loving son of the late Daniel and Catherine (Rosch) Main. Predeceased by his brother Joseph Belfiore Jr (2008), sister Kathleen Caswell (2022) as well as, his son in-laws Ian Ashline (2019), Darren Miller (2022) and great nephew Daniel Butler (2009). In addition, he is also survived by his wife Kelly Travers- Main and children Caitlyn (William), Rachel (Alex), Daniel III (Lilly); grandson Owen Ashline, granddaughter Willow Mae Crandall, nephews and niece Glenn (Vicki), David, Sandra Butler, as well as extended family and friends. Daniel was a graduate of Columbia High School and was presented the Cibulas Medallion Award. Throughout the years of employment, he worked for Corellis & Hoffarth Refuse, Demartini Oil & Equipment, Sterling Winthrop and Owens Corning of Delmar NY in the Predictive Maintenace Department for 28 years. He was also a member of the St. Lukes Lutheran Church of Valatie, the 1970's Rensselaer County Motorcycle Club, Nassau Sportsmans Club, a brother of the Renssalaer County Masons branch of East Greenbush, as well as an honorary member of the East Coast Riders- Columbia County. He was an avid outdoorsman, drag racer, motorcycle rider and always loved tinkering on something in his barn. Daniel was a loyal friend you could always count on and a protective guardian of his family. Daniel's greatest achievement was 37 years of sobriety which he guarded dearly. *The Main Family would like to extend their thanks to Van Rensselaer Manor for the care of Daniel the last 6 years up to his passing.* Services for Daniel will be held Sunday, June 2nd, 2024 at 12:00 p.m at St. Luke's Lutheran Church 1010 Kinderhook Street Valatie, NY 12184.
