Janet and Family,
So sorry for your loss. May God's loving arms bring you comfort in your time of need.
He once told me, with a grin on his face, that he tried to catch me in the hall with out a pass... he never did. We laughed.

Sincere condolences to his family and all his friends in the community. Teaching physical education was his passion to encourage his students to be "all that they can be" even if it was learning to square dance! He had a smile or a quick joke to brighten your day. Many times he would stop into the Guidance Office and chat about the students or what he did over the weekend or how he and Janet were making plans for a nice vacation. Steve was personable, friendly and a caring person for his family and his many years as an instructor. He will be missed. May God welcome him with open arms.
(I hope God and His Angels are ready to square dance! )

Mr. Shpur was one of a kind. He was fun, sarcastic, loving, and encouraging. He was a bright spot at Ichabod Crane. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Coach Spur was one of my all-time favorite baseball coaches. He never got on any of us for a physical error, but if you made a mental mistake, he'd let you have it. I learned a lot about my position from him and how to play the game right. And as a PE teacher he always made the class fun and it was usually the best part of my school day at ICC.

When I first met Mr. Shpur, little did I know that my family would be so lucky to have over 30 years of friendship. We will forever cherish our visits and the many, many jokes that he made sure to send to Texas. Mr. Shpur knew how to make you feel loved and special. He lived life right and leaves a legacy of an amazing family and so many friends that will never forget him and his amazing life. Well done, Mr. Shpur. We love you!

When I think of Steve, with whom I taught many of his 30 years at Ichabod Crane CS, I remember the twinkle in his eye and a slightly devilish grin. Although I never spent a lot of time with Steve, I think of him as being friendly, personable, and just a really nice guy. I'm sure his children and grandchildren will miss him, and of course so will his wife, who will sorely feel his absence in her life after so many years of marriage. Heather Rossman

May we always remember Stephen's vivacious spirit and his gift for bringing joy into our lives. His passion radiated through every role he took on, be it as our dependable PE teacher or dedicated baseball coach. His kindness was manifest in his open-door policy, generously offering guidance to those around him. It was truly an honor walking along the path he pioneered with laughter and friendliness. May his legacy continue to inspire us all. Godspeed, dear friend, you will be missed terribly.

Steve and I had been friends since 1973 when I first met him at ICC. We shared many memories of golfing… getting together for lunch. I ,especially miss the many Fridays bowling. He even with his many activities did a great job painting the siding at our old house in Schodack. Jerry and Irene Skalij

I don’t think I would have gotten through gym class with out Mr. Shpur, whenever it was a sport we didn’t want to do he would give us a laugh and his keys and tell us to get out the tv and vcr and do some work out videos. I’m not sure how much we actually got done but the memories from gym class with Mr.Shpur have been ones that I have shared with my children through the years. My condolences to his family, he will be missed.

This is sad for those of us whose lives you touched and made brighter. I loathed gym class and you so loved to tease me about it! You called me "Spike" both because of my volleyball "skills" and my hair that you also loved to tease me about!! I will miss passing you around town or the occasional chance to say hello. Rest easy and fly high Mr. Sphur...you have been loved. Godspeed

Your father was a great man. Kind and considerate.
Everyone wanted to check in and say hello to him, as an educator. As he retired, it was nice to walk into him in town.
Thank you for sharing him with us Sphur family.
