Having worked with Paul for 31 of his 36 years in the United States Attorney's Office, I was one of many to have benefitted from his encyclopedic knowledge of the law and wise counsel. In the old days, when paper copies of opinions of the Court of Appeals and U.S. Supreme Court were circulated among Assistant U.S. Attorneys, Paul would note important aspects of each case on an index card, maintain the cards, and retrieve them to help his colleagues properly address issues that arose in our cases. Paul was committed to securing justice and very supportive of the law enforcement officers and other first responders who protect and serve our communities. He was dedicated to his family--we frequently exchanged family stories--and to his dogs, who he brought to the office whenever he could. He is missed!

Silver Family -
Please accept my condolences on the loss of Paul. He was a great lawyer, friend, and colleague. I would stop by his office when I was in Albany, and we would chat about important things - family and cars. He was very intelligent and funny. I looked forward to our office conferences. I would sit with Paul. He always brought a lot of snacks, I never went hungry.
For the office, Paul was similar to a home remodeler. He would review our trial briefs and transcripts, patch the holes, fill in the cracks, add some paint, and create a finished product that was suitable for a successful argument before the Second Circuit.
All of us owe a debt of gratitude to Paul. He will be greatly missed.

Below is a picture of me with my high school boyfriend Todd taken 40 years ago at Paul and Maryann on their wedding day. I am honored to share this happy memory as the lucky maid of honor. The four of us went to high school together in Valley Stream where we grew up and so this was a special day of true love and magic. Paul will be missed more then words can say and so I share this memory as a testament of the truth that true love never dies.

Paul was a great influence and motivator for me and many others in the junior fire department. And on the scene or off was one of the kindest role models you could ever ask for. Loved his work ethic as well and made the community and his family very proud to have him in the forefront for us. You have a special place in the hearts of many Paul. Rip my Brother and friend.

I was lucky to work with Paul at the US Attorney’s Office. He was a wise and trusted colleague, a constant source of kindness and cheer, quick to laugh, and slow to judge. I will miss him and his good counsel greatly. My deepest condolences.

Our family has known Paul for many years . He was such a kind, gentle soul . Loved by his dogs Rocky and Trooper . He was at our dealership one day chit chatting with my late husband Ed Jr and my late father in law Ed Sr. I guess he was taking too long inside and Rocky who was sitting in the back seat of the vehicle waiting and waiting, jumped up to the front seat and started blowing the car horn to get Paul’s attention. We all burst into laughter, Paul including. Be free Paul . We will miss you Always.

I will always remember you trying to teach me how to drive a standard. You had such patience with me. I will remember your words of wisdom, even if I was too stubborn to listen at the time. You are the one that helped me find my passion in animals particularly with dogs. I love you.
Rest in peace Uncle Paul we will miss you. Till we meet again.

We only knew Paul for a short time. We did share a beloved grandson, who summered in Kinderhook with his G'Ma and G'Pa. Watching Paul interact with his grandson was to see exactly who he was: kind, caring, listening and he shared such a connection with Douglas. He will be sorely missed, not just by his family but by all who knew him. I am just sorry the time was so short.

I had so much laughter with Paul. After hours in the first Floor of the US courthouse I would throw the tennis ball down the hall for trooper. He would run at full speed and then slide about 30 feet on the marble floors. Skidding into some piece of furniture. We would laugh at such a silly thing. I’m
