Obituary of Edward Peter John Schomaker

Edward PJ Schomaker of Valatie, NY passed away on December 18, 2023 in Ghent, NY. Ed was born in Brooklyn, NY to Meta and Hermann Schomaker on January 1, 1938. He went to Central Islip High School and atteneded Rennselear Polytechnic Institute and graduated at C. W. Post with a bachelor's degree in business administration. Ed was Assistant Director for New York State Department of Mental Hygiene. He enjoyed RPI Hockey, bowling, watching sports, reading and was a Deacon for St. Luke's Lutheran Church. Ed served in the Army, trained at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and served two years in Germany. He is survived by his wife Marie Schomaker, married for 60 years, sons Kenneth (wife Roxanne), Thomas, John and daughter Linda Michalek (husband Steve), his sister Anne Schomaker Krumholz, and grandchildren Sara Schomaker, Cassie and Hazel Michalek. He is predeceased by his parents Meta and Hermann Schomaker and grandson Andrew Schomaker. Visitation will be held at the Bond Funeral Home, Valatie on Friday, December, 22, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday December 23, 2023 at 11:00 am with Reverend Beth George officiating. Burial will follow in the Prospect Hill Cemetery, Valatie. In place of sending flowers, we invite you to make a donation to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or St. Luke's Lutheran Church Memorial Fund in Ed's honor.
