Mary Ann Pfundstein, 83, of Valatie, New York, passed away on December 13, 2023, in her home surrounded by loved ones. Her husband Jack (John) Pfundstein predeceased her.
Mary Ann was born in Charlestown, Massachusetts to Anthony and Mary Ellen Hagan on January 23, 1940. She was a graduate of St. Francis de Sales elementary school in Charlestown, MA and Mount Trinity Academy in Watertown, MA. Mary Ann earned a B.A. in English from Siena College in Memphis, TN and a M.A. in Theology/Spirituality from Fordham University, Bronx, NY.
Mary Ann was a dedicated member of the Dominican Sisters of Peace, formerly known as The Kentucky Dominicans, for 23 years, sharing in their ministry to the poor and oppressed. She was an elementary and high school teacher in the states of Illinois, Massachusetts, and New York for 30 years. She was also a Clinical Assessment Specialist Counselor for 20 years at Hope House in Albany, New York. Mary Ann lived her grace-filled life loving and serving God and God's people.
Mary Ann is survived by her sister, Patricia Carey, and her husband, Frederick, of Medford, MA, and sister, Diane Hagan, and her husband Walter Spencer of Franklin, MA. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Rev. George Pfundstein of Flushing, NY and sister-in-law Donna Pfundstein of Fort Pierce, FL.
She was the beloved aunt to Kathy Carey, Nancy Marotta, Patty Smyers, Theresa Carey, Bridget Carey, Deborah Pfundstein and Laurie Pfundstein. She was also great aunt to Jack and Ben Marotta, Rachael Smyers and Brittany Smyers.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her sister Veronica Garner.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Raymond Bond Funeral Home in Valatie, NY.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Saint John the Baptist Church, 1025 Kinderhook Street, Valatie, NY. Burial will follow in the church's cemetery.
