Obituary of Marcus Petrie

Marcus Petrie went on to the embrace of his loving Savior Jesus on July 28, 2023. Born in Albany, NY to John and Lucy Petrie on 3/22/1931. He had been a toolmaker by trade and had been employed at National Lead Co. and Crellin Plastics. He had been communicant of the First Presbyterian Church of Valatie, NY, since 1979, where he had served as an elder and a trustee. He was a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy. He and his late wife, Lotus, loved taking organ lessons together. They loved traveling to places like Bar Harbor, Maine to take in the spectacular sunsets, or the finger lakes for wine tasting. They enjoyed just sitting and eating lunch along the Hudson River to watch the eagles. They were often taking excursions out into the New England countryside as they loved taking in the scenery, checking out small towns, visiting shoppes, doing a little antiquing, and finding quaint restaurants at which to dine. Marcus was preceded in death by Lotus (his wife of 42 years), and two step-children, Dennis and Randy Longe, and is survived by four children Mark Petrie (Darlene), Denise Pappas, Deirdre Petrie and Steven Petrie (Kelly) and step-children Debbie Longe (David), Lonny Longe (Diane), and Lori Longe Greene (Robert), and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the First Presbyterian Church of Valatie, 3212 Church St., Valatie, NY 12184 A church service is to take place at the First Presbyterian Church of Valatie on Tuesday August 22, 2023 at 11am.
