Harold E. Williams, "Corn Willy" , 100 years old, passed away on May 22, 2023 in St. Peter's Nursing and Rehab in Albany, NY . Harold was born in Valatie, NY to Nelson and Hattie Williams on January 23, 1923. He left school after eighth grade to help support his family during the Great Depression. He worked manual farm labor and at the Watervliet Arsenal and then enlisted in the Army and served and fought in seven European theatre campaigns including Omaha Beach D-Day. He was honored with numerous medals and commendations. His military history is listed in the Veteran's Hall of Fame (NYS).
Harold is survived by his four children including his son , David Williams (wife Jane), daughters, Susan Perl (Raymond), Deborah Light (Thomas) and Elizabeth Trenholm (Douglas); six grandchildren, Julie Preder, William Perl, Sarah Light, Derek Trenholm, Casey Sylvaria, Austin Trenholm and ten great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his first wife, Sarah (Betty), grandson, Joshua Irish, and second wife, Marie.
Memorial donations may be made to Clearview Alliance Church, 275 Schodack Drive, Castleton on Hudson, NY or the Capitol City Rescue Mission, 259 South Pearl St., Albany, NY.
Funeral Services will be held 10 AM, Thursday, May 25, 2023 at the Clearview Alliance Church. Visitation will be from 4 – 7 PM, Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, Valatie.
