Aunt Peg, I remember such wonderful, long Vermont summer days with you driving John and me to the farm, swimming lessons,
the amusement park. I enjoyed your stories, passion
for fine food. I fondly recall your artistic talent.
My mother tells of borrowing your dress for her high school prom, of watching (as an impressionable 16 year old) her older cousins wedding reception from the staircase in the house on Denton Avenue on Long Island. People gathering to watch you and Uncle Alan
expertly dance the lindy at the beach.
I'll never forget sharing such laughter with you at my parents house in Florida when
my passport was delivered to the airport in Tampa
with just a few nerve-racking hours to spare before my first voyage to Europe. High drama that entailed finding the long delayed passport in Boston with the help of a Vermont senator's office.
Your courage, strength and dignity in the final years in Vermont and while living alone (with John just down the road ) was so admirable.
With every mention of your family there always came an expression of pride and love.
