Obituary of Jacqueline Briggs Bachman

Jacqueline [Jackie] Briggs Bachman [Dickson], 72, of Valatie, NY, passed on March 6th in Albany, NY surrounded by family after enduring several months of medical complications.
Jackie was born in Rochester, NY to John Briggs Dickson and Rosemary Allen Dickson on June 24, 1950. She attended West High School in Rochester and went on to further her studies in Psychology, Rehabilitation Services and Deaf Social Work at Mount Wachusett Community College, Assumption College and the Rochester Institute of Technology National Institute for the Deaf.
She worked as a Peer Advocate for The Independent Living Center of Hudson Valley for over 22 years. Through her work she found her purpose and influenced meaningful change in people's lives.
She was an active member of St Luke's church in Valatie, organizing many community events and gatherings. Above all she was a creative spirit, an award-winning quilter, dabbled with the Oils and holistic medicine SMILE, and enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family.
Jackie is survived by her three sons and their families: Christopher and Susan Bachman of Westminster, MA, their children Amanda and Matthew, Brian and Maria Bachman of Liberty Lake, WA, their children Birdie and Baer, and Armin and Eileen Bachman of Framingham, MA and their fur family. She is also survived by her sister Sheila Tillich and sister-in-law Heidi Bender, both of Fairport, NY along with many nieces, nephews and dear friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth C. Bachman, her parents John Briggs Dickson and Rosemary Allen Dickson, her siblings, Anita Shults, Corinne Edwards, George Dickson, Faith Brownlee, Kevin Dickson, Robert Dickson and her beloved sisters-in-law Barbara Slater and Linda Dickson.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the ICU team at St. Peter's Hospital, The Eddy Visiting Nurses, and her personal health aide Tammy.
Visitation will be held at Raymond E Bond Funeral Home, Valatie NY on Friday, March 17th from 12pm-2pm and 5pm-7pm.
Funeral service will be held at St Luke's Lutheran Church, 1010 Kinderhook St, Valatie, NY on Saturday, March 18th at 2:30 pm with Pastor Beth George officiating. An ASL interpreter will be present for the services.
