Mabel M. Schermerhorn, 84, of Valatie, NY, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at Columbia Memorial Hospital. Born July 27, 1935 in Valatie, she was the daughter of the late Fayette M. and Mabel (Hotaling) Hamm. Mabel was a homemaker and worked at L & B Products in Hudson for many years. She was a very giving person who went out of her way for anybody in need. She is survived by her husband: Lyle W. Schermerhorn Sr.; seven children, Lyle W. Schermerhorn Jr. and Matthew S. Schermerhorn (Melissa) both of Stottville, Wendy M. Schermerhorn of Hillsdale, Bec G. Collins (Margaret), Valerie Hammond of Nassau, Cindy Bailly of South Carolina, Vivian Scott of Nebraska, her brother Donald Hamm and sister Lois Strehler both of Valatie and several grand and great grandchildren nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughters Marian and Kathy Scott and her siblings Raymond, Arnold, Edna, Dorothy, Olive, Lester, Ronald, Robert, Janice and John. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, June 24 from 1-3pm at the Raymond E Bond Funeral Home, Valatie. Burial will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery. For those who wish, contributions may be made to the Valatie Rescue Squad, POB 242, Valatie, NY 12184 or the Valatie Santa Claus Club, P.O. Box 601, Valatie NY 12184.
