Obituary of Maria L. Yezzi

Please share a memory of Maria to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Maria Yezzi, age 59 of Stuyvesant Falls, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2022 at home with her family by her side after a very brief, but valiant battle with cancer. She departed this world with amazing grace and dignity; her mother holding her hand until she took her last breath. The day was cold, but the sun was warm, the sky was bright blue, and the Winter birds were singing. One could not ask for a more beautiful day to make the journey to Heaven. Maria was born January 5, 1963 in Albany, NY to Audrey S. Yezzi and the late John T. Yezzi. Maria moved to the Valatie area with her family as a young child. She was a graduate of Ichabod Crane High School. After graduating from high school, she pursued her Associates degree in Business from the Sage College of Albany. After graduating, she accepted a position as a secretary with a local law firm which had a few name changes over the years but is now known as Hodgson Russ LLP. She was so highly regarded in the firm that she was eventually promoted to a paralegal position. Maria gave over 30 years of service with Hodgson Russ. Maria enjoyed spending time with her family and having adventures with her love, Rob. She loved taking trips to Marblehead with her mother, daughter, and granddaughter. Over the course of her life, she discovered that she had a marvelous "green thumb". She also had a knack for interior design. Anyone who knew Maria, knew that she had a beautiful heart. She was kind, compassionate, and empathetic; three attributes that not all are fortunate to be blessed with. Maria is survived by her daughter, Jaime L. Yezzi of Valatie and her beloved granddaughter Brenna. In addition, she leaves behind her devoted partner, Rob Rider as well as her mother Audrey S. Yezzi; four siblings, Lisa Yezzi of Windham, Linda Pulver of Valatie, John Yezzi of Valatie, and Stephen Yezzi of Marblehead MA. Nephew Jason Yezzi (Nikki) of Seattle WA, nephew Nicholas Yezzi of Valatie, niece Kristen Hiller (Ricky) of Nassau, niece Molly Yezzi of Albany, and great nephew Carson Hiller. She also leaves behind her father-in-law George Traver. She was predeceased by her husband of 34 years, Michael T. Gohl (Traver) and her father John T. Yezzi. The family wishes thank Dr. Ronnie Luyun and Dr. Christian Gasson with St. Peters Cancer Care Center for the wonderful care they provided. The family would also like to thank the staff at The Community Hospice for the amazing care and support they provided during Maria's final days. Visiting hours will take place on Tuesday, December 27th at Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home from 5pm-8pm. A Catholic mass will take place at St. John The Baptist Church in Valatie on Wednesday, December 28th at 11:00 am followed by a reception at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Community Hospice at givetocommunityhospice.org
