Obituary of Raymond Shields

Raymond Shields Sr., 83, of Stuyvesant, NY, passed away at his home on September 16, 2022. Born August 31, 1939 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Walter and Martha (O'Neill) Shields. Ray was a 1958 graduate of Ichabod Crane Central Schools and also served in the National Guard. Before his retirement, he was a small engine mechanic for the Hudson Correctional Facility in Hudson. He was an avid car collector where his focus was restoring Firebirds. He also enjoyed hunting and motorcycle riding. He is survived by his wife, Roberta; his children, Raymond Shields Jr. of Leeds, NY, Scott Folmsbee of Stuyvesant, NY and Veronica Fraizer of Latham; his grandson, Connor Shields; several nieces and nephews and his childhood friends, Dorothy Huyck Praga and Edmund Gaylord. Besides his parents, Ray was also predeceased by his siblings, Walter and Ruth Ann Shields. There will be no services at this time. Arrangements are with the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, Valatie.
