Please share a memory of Patricia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On June 23, 2022, Patricia A. Pinto, 91, passed away in the loving care of hospice services and nursing staff at The Eddy Nursing Home in Troy, NY.
Patricia Pinto (Pat) was a long time resident of Kinderhook, NY since 1958, and Chatham, NY since 1988. She was born June 2, 1931 in Queens, NY to Frances and Grace McGeough. She attended Mary Louis Academy in Queens before leaving Hunter College to marry the love of her life, Jack, from Brooklyn, NY.
Pat was a mother, mentor, or friend to everyone who knew her. While she had six children at home, Pat worked as a nurse's aide, volunteered as a PTA president for the schools, and worked diligently as a Girl Scout Leader, all before she had a driver's license!
In her early forties, she took adult driver's education, completed college prep classes in order to attend nursing school at Maria College in Albany, NY, and proudly used her training with the Valatie Volunteer Rescue Squad. She was best known locally for working as the 3-11 Nursing Supervisor at Barnwell Nursing Home in Valatie, NY until her formal retirement. Pat touched many souls on this earth before passing beyond this world with her kind heart and gentle manner.
As an avid reader, Pat embraced the history of many cultures and enjoyed her travels throughout Europe and Asia. After moving to Chatham, she did hospice nursing during her retirement, and was able to devote more time to help with mass at St. James Church, and also helped teach the Catholic religion conversion classes. Her devotion to God continued as an Apostle for The Sisters of the Resurrection in Castleton, NY.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two siblings, Mickey and Jeanne. She is survived by her children Thomas Pinto (Sally), Robert Pinto, James Pinto (Lana), John Pinto (Robin), Laura Pinto, Rose Pinto (Gary Canaday); her grandchildren Michael Brooks, Jill Lieurance, Brianna Parillo, Maggie Pinto, Zachary Pinto, Tiffany Chung, Lisa Metzner, Katie Chung, and Josie Pinto; her great grandchildren Hudson, Stella, Waylon, Emerson, and Annabella; and her extended family Francine Pinto, Gary Brooks, Andrea Weiner, George Zimmerman, and Richard Gagnon.
A memorial mass and celebration of life service will take place at St. James Church in Chatham on October 15th at 11 am.
