Betty "Pinky" Laviano, 69, of Valatie, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, June 27th at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, NY. She was the beloved daughter of James and Isabelle Mazal.
Pinky (as she was affectionately known since childhood) attended Ichabod Crane Central School and on June 29, 1968, she married the love of her life, Joseph Laviano. Pinky was a homemaker and over the years, she worked as a school bus aide and teacher's assistant.
She is survived by her loving husband, Joseph along with her daughter, Patricia (Anthony) Rizzi and her son, Anthony Laviano. Additionally, she is survived by two granddaughters, Ashley Laviano and Kristen Rizzi. Pinky adored being "Gram" to her girls; they were the apples of her eye.
Pinky also leaves behind to cherish her memory, her siblings, Linda Wildermuth of Niskayuna, Ralph Mazal of Florida, Bonnie Rivenburg of Valatie and Lawrence Mazal of Averill Park along with several nieces and nephews who she thought the world of.
In addition to her parents, Pinky is predeceased by her son, Joseph, Jr and siblings Beatrice, Donna and James, Jr.
Family was everything to Pinky and most often, she coordinated family gatherings and looked forward to every event with such excitement. She loved vacationing in Hampton and Myrtle Beach along with camping in the family RV.
Funeral services for Pinky will be held at Bond's Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook St. Valatie, NY 12184 on Friday July 1, 2022 at 11:00am with Rev. Nick Becker officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Woodlawn Cemetery Route 203 in Valatie. Visitation will be held onThursday June 30, 2022 from 6-8pm.
