Before Hospice had become a movement in Columbia County, my family was blessed in the mid 1980s to learn that Bert was available to help care for my mother in her last weeks. Bert was an amazingly loving, caring, and kind woman. I always felt so indebted to Bert that she was with Mom when my brother and I were not able to be. Bert was a beautiful woman who was radiant from her love of others. She was a model for her family to follow, and an example of a life well lived in spite of her own personal trials and adversities.
