Obituary of Concelyers L. Ryan

Concelyers "Connie" Ryan passed away April 23, 2020 at the Grand at Barnwell. Born July 16, 1932 in the Bronx (NY), she was the daughter of the late John and Rose (Cox) Lewis. She contracted polio in 1934, which lead to a life filled with doctor recommended limitations. In her early 20's she worked as a secretary for Standard Oil Company in Rockefeller Center (New York City). On 2/8/58 she married Charles L. Ryan in Pelham, NY. She was told to not bear children due to her physical limitations from the polio. Our strong, feisty mother went on to give birth to four children. In 1967, Connie and her husband moved to Carmel, NY. They raised their children and spent over 40 years in the same home. Connie raised her children and then began to work outside the home in the 1980's. She worked for over 10 years at Guide Post, as a secretary. In 2000, her and her husband retired to Kinderhook, NY. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, family, and friends. Connie loved the water and would swim at any time given the opportunity. She loved attending weekly Bingo games, going to the casinos, playing cards, and reading. Through out her life she always found time to volunteer in the community. She always worked the polls on Election Day and opened her home to foster children for many years. She leaves behind her four children: James Ryan, William Ryan, Dawn Logerfo, and Loretta Ryan Kittle, and her devoted husband, Charles L. Ryan, a sister: Patricia Trum of Rye NY, 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings Violet Decaro, Mary Brown, Johnny and Charles Lewis and a grandchild. A graveside service will be held on Monday, April 27th, 2020, 11:45am in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Valatie, with Rev. George Fleming officiating.
