Such a wonderful obituary for such an amazing man. I was so sad to hear of his passing, and I extend my most heartfelt condolences to you all for your loss. I have a fond memory of Don from my teenage days. My brother Justin and I were close friends with Don Jr., and one night we had been invited to have dinner with the family. Don(Sr.) had come in late from work, and sat down at the table to a meal already in progress. A heated mealtime intellectual debate was also very much in progress as Don very quietly took his place at the table. I watched him sit back in his chair amidst the cacophony of voices with a bemused, but very proud smile on his face as he observed each of his highly intelligent, individualistic, and strongly opinionated children attempt to make their voices heard over over that of their siblings. He suddenly leaned forward, and added a single, rather pithy comment to the discussion. There was a split second of silence during which you could hear a zillion nerve cells firing off, and then - BAM! Off they went again! And Don again sat back, smiled quietly, and watched his children in action.
