James J. Falkner, 81, of Hudson, NY, passed away Friday, April 9, 2021 at Columbia Memorial Hospital. Born October 8, 1939 in Chatham Center, NY, he was the son of the late Roy and Lena (Dymond) Falkner. Jim grew up on a farm in Hollowville NY and worked for Ray Meyer in Kinderhook for many years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed working on small engines. He is survived by 5 children, Jeffrey Richards (Krista) of Kinderhook, Steffen Sponholz (Helen) of Germantown, Tina Price (Mark) of Stuyvesant, James Falkner (Michelle) of Philmont and Barbara Coons (Timothy) of Kinderhook, two sisters, Betty Baker of Upper Hollowville and Helen Friedrich of Hollowville, six grandchildren; Shila Price, Korey Lynn, Scott Richards, Crystal and Shawn Coons and Cody Falkner and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Phyllis E. (Richards) Falkner, siblings Charles Falkner, Dorothy Stoddard and Doris VanAlphen, a granddaughter Kelly Shea and a great grandson AJ Richards. The funeral will be held 1:00 pm on Thursday, April 15 at the Raymond E Bond Funeral Home, Valatie. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 15 from 11:00-1:00pm prior to the funeral. Burial will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Valatie. For those who wish, contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Columbia / Greene, 47 Liberty Street, Catskill, NY 12414.
