Thomas R. Stein Obituary
In Loving Memory of Thomas R. Stein
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved son, Thomas, on June 20th, 2026, far too early.
Thomas was deeply loved by his family and friends. He had a kind heart, a warm smile, and a unique way of connecting with people that left a lasting impression on those who knew him. He brought laughter, love, and unforgettable memories to our lives.
Those who loved Thomas knew his generous spirit, his sensitivity, his weakness for anything cute, and his deep desire to find his place in the world. We remember his fierce convictions, his longing to be seen and heard, his unwavering loyalty, his hopes and dreams, his strong sense of justice, and the many moments of joy we shared together.
Thomas was endlessly curious and loved books, especially those that challenged conventional thinking and sparked lively discussion. He was passionate about food and cooking, taking pleasure in preparing meals, trying new flavors, and sharing good food with others. He found peace and happiness in nature and loved hiking, skiing, biking, stargazing, and camping, feeling most at home under an open sky or on a trail leading somewhere new.
Thomas is survived by his loving parents, Kevin Stein and partner Nataly Jones, Anne Murphy and stepfather Gary Van Allen, his brother Colin Stein and sister-in-law Kateri Donahoe, and many relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
As we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the love he gave, and the love he inspired in others.
Calling hours will be held on June 25, 2026 from 4-6 pm at Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street Valatie, NY
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to organizations supporting LGBTQ+ communities in honor of Thomas Stein https://www.outhudsonny.com/donate
Forever loved. Forever missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
