Corey James Yates passed away on June 15, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories and a void that can never truly be filled.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Emily; their cherished dogs, Cooper and Maverick; his father David Yates, mother Debbie Hernandez; his brothers, David (Dianne) Yates and Matthew Yates; his brother Juan Hernandez; his sister Stephanie Monnell, as well as many extended family members, friends, colleagues, and all whose lives were touched by his kindness, compassion, and unwavering dedication to others.

He was preceded in death by his beloved aunts, Sharon Rouse and Barbara Yates.

Corey carried himself with a quiet strength that drew people to him. He was never one to seek the spotlight, yet his presence was impossible to overlook. With a sharp sense of humor, a perfectly timed sarcastic comment, and an eye roll that could say everything without a single word, he had a way of making those around him laugh and feel at ease. Beneath his reserved exterior was a deeply loyal soul and a heart full of love for those closest to him. To be loved by Corey was to know unwavering support, genuine care, and a bond that remained steadfast through every season of life.

As an EMT, Corey dedicated his career to helping others on their worst days. He served various communities with compassion, professionalism, and humility, never seeking recognition for the difference he made in the lives of countless people.

Nothing brought Corey more joy than the simple things in life. He found peace with a fishing rod in his hand, content to spend hours by the water enjoying the quiet. He cherished summer evenings at the camper, where some of his happiest memories were made. A devoted fan of the New York Rangers, New York Yankees, and San Francisco 49ers, he rarely missed the opportunity to cheer on his favorite teams. Whether he was outdoors, watching a game, or simply spending time at home with those he loved, Corey found happiness in life's ordinary moments—moments that became extraordinary because they were shared with the people and places he treasured most.

Above all else, Corey loved his wife, Emily, fiercely. Married in 2017, they built a life together filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Their two beloved dogs completed their family and were a constant source of joy. The love Corey and Emily shared was evident to everyone who knew them and remains one of the greatest parts of his legacy.

Corey will be remembered for his constant resilience, steady presence, his dry sense of humor, his dedication to helping others, and the immense love he gave to his family and friends. Though his time with us was far too short, the impact he made on those who knew and loved him will last forever.

Calling Hours will be held on Tuesday, June 23, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook St., Valatie. A private burial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Ravena Rescue Squad, 1 Bruno Blvd, Ravena, NY 12143.
