Richard Neil LaCrosse Obituary

Richard Neil LaCrosse, 60, of Stuyvesant, NY, passed away suddenly on May 14, 2026.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts on May 19, 1965, he was the son of the late Richard Arthur and Gloria Annabelle LaCrosse. Rick attended schools in Pittsfield and was a graduate of Pittsfield High School. He was employed by Mabey's Moving and Storage until a work-related injury in 1998 left him permanently disabled.

Rick is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra LaCrosse of Stuyvesant; his children, Josh Ackley of Warrensburg, NY and Andrea Martel (James) of Wynantskill, NY; and also Laurie Knights (Barry) of Kinderhook, Terry Phillips (Thiti) of Stuyvesant, Aaron Phillips of Hudson, and his kinship foster son, Joshua Murphy of Dallas, Texas.

He was a proud grandfather, affectionately known as "Pa," to Brandon Veakins (Kacey) and Tika Veakins, both of Stuyvesant; Caden Martel of Wynantskill; and Brent, Bailey, and Benjamin Ackley of Warrensburg. He was also the great-grandfather of Mason and Connor Veakins of Stuyvesant.

Rick is also survived by his sister, Gloria Lowder (Bill) of Valatie; his brothers, Glen LaCrosse of Angier, NC and Wayne LaCrosse; along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He held a special place in his heart for Marilyn Borgersen (Robert, deceased), whom he affectionately nicknamed "FSIL," meaning "favorite sister-in-law."

Rick will also be fondly remembered by his "furry grandchildren," Flash, Judge, Murphy, and Luna.

He was a proud member of Columbia County ABATE, the Stuyvesant Falls VFW Auxiliary Post 9593, where he served as Senior Vice President and was a life member. He was also a dedicated member of the Stuyvesant Fire Company No. 1, where he served as Chairman of the Board of Fire Commissioners for three years, working tirelessly toward the construction of a new firehouse for the community he deeply respected.

Additionally, Rick was a member of Stuyvesant Falls Fire Company No. 2, where he was part of the kitchen crew, managed uniforms, and proudly drove in parades and conventions. He was a 12-year member of Kinderhook Elks Lodge No. 2530, where he served on various boards, including as Inner Guard, and was actively involved in events and the Marion Stegmann Committee.

Rick also found great joy in volunteering, including preparing luncheons for veterans through the Dwyer Program in Hudson and supporting fundraisers for Destiny's Ride in Kinderhook. He never missed an opportunity to compete in a chili contest.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Jon LaCrosse.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Rick's memory may be made to any of the organizations listed above.

Calling hours will be held at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, Valatie, NY, on May 23, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

On behalf of my entire family, I want to thank everyone for the constant outpouring of love since May 14. If I have not responded back to your messages yet I am trying my best during this difficult time. Thank you,Sandy LaCrosse
