Carolyn Anne Hermance Obituary

Carolyn ("Aunt CC") A. Hermance, 71, of Niverville, NY, passed away peacefully at her residence on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026, with her beloved sister, brother-in-law and nephew at her bedside.

Carolyn was born on Flag Day, June 14, 1954, in Poughkeepsie, NY to Paul J. and Johannah H. (Brown) Hermance. She grew up on the Sunnybrook Poultry Farm in Stuyvesant, NY, where she spent most of her time caring for the animals, especially all of the cats.

She attended the Ichabod Crane High School in Valatie, NY. Upon completion, she began her career as a Seamstress at Rielly Mill, in Valatie, NY for several years, until their closure in 1995. At the time of the business closure, she then began working as a Housekeeper for local health facilities until her retirement in 2016.

She enjoyed spending time in her rocking chair, crocheting blankets, and listening to classic rock music. She had a true love for animals, especially cats, dogs, and horses. During the warmer weather months, she enjoyed tending to her flower gardens, taking neighborhood walks and laying in the warm sunshine. She was known for her heart of gold, warm smile and cheerful giggle. Her family meant everything to her. They were the center of her world. She loved them deeply, always putting their needs before her own without hesitation.

She is survived by her sister, Mary Anne (Duane F.) Hotaling of Niverville, NY, and her nephew Duane Anthony Hotaling of Nassau, NY. She shared a deep and meaningful bond with her nephew, a connection that was truly one of a kind. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law, Linda Hermance, of Florida, along with many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was predeceased by both of her parents, in addition to her two brothers, James E. Hermance and Paul C. Hermance, along with her two sisters, Veronica L. Hermance and Mildred A. Dillinger.

At Carolyn's request, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Arrangements are with Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, Valatie, NY.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and gratitude to Dr. Benjamin Laser and his entire team at NYOH Radiology in Albany, NY; in addition to the entire Columbia-Greene Community Hospice team for all of their loving care and support.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either the Columbia-Greene Humane Society, 111 Humane Society Road, Hudson, NY 12534 or the Columbia-Greene Community Hospice, 47 Liberty Street, Catskill, NY 12414.
