Mary Leamy Obituary

Mary Leamy passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, after fighting a courageous illness and doing it all with a smile on her face. She is predeceased by her parents, Charles and Elizabeth Keegan, and her baby son, Kevin. Mary and her family were deeply grateful for the compassionate care provided by the many kind doctors and nurses who supported her.

Mary will be remembered as a kind, patient, gentle, and quiet spirit. Everyone who had the privilege of knowing her was touched by her warmth, affection, and sincere kindness. She carried a rare ability to make others feel seen, heard, and cared for, simply through her presence and her words.

A retired special education teacher with Questar III, Mary dedicated her life to supporting children. Even after retirement, her love for her students drew her back to volunteer at Ichabod Crane, where she remained connected with many of the young people whose lives she forever impacted.

Mary treasured her friendships—whether traveling, sharing laughter, or catching up during the countless phone calls she enjoyed. She also built deep bonds within her neighborhood, where she loved walking the loop and visiting friends. Her joy for the simple things shone brightly: decorating for the holidays, selecting the perfect Hallmark cards, tending her garden, watching the birds, and spending peaceful moments on her porch.

Above all, Mary's greatest love was her family. She leaves behind her husband, Mike Leamy, and her three beloved children and 5 grandchildren: Kim Kahn (Jason) - Kaylee (13), Mikalya (9), Kelly Bifano (Michael) - Dylan (12), Lucas (7) , Brian Leamy (April Pinkowski) - Lyla (11). She cherished them more than anything in the world and took immense pride in every moment shared together.

Mary's grandchildren were the light of her life. She delighted in buying them gifts, hosting sleepovers, attending their games, getting donuts, going to the movies, shopping and planning activities that always made them feel special and deeply loved.

Mary's gentle heart, quiet strength, and boundless kindness will be forever remembered by all who were blessed to know her. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to shine in the lives of her family, friends, students, and community.

Friends are invited to Mary's calling hours from 1-4 PM, Sunday, March 1, 2026 at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, Rt. 9, Valatie, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM, Monday, March 2, 2026 at St. John the Baptist Church, Rt. 9, Valatie, NY.

To honor Mary, donations can be made to The Ronald McDonald House or the Ichabod Crane Backpack Program.
