Michael Joseph Rybka, 79, of Stuyvesant, New York passed away on October 24, 2025 in Hudson, NY.
Michael was born in Brooklyn, New York to Michael and Claire Rybka on June 2, 1946. His family relocated to Stuyvesant Falls, NY in 1955. Michael attended Ichabod Crane School District and graduated in 1963. He then pursued a Master's degree in Education from SUNY Plattsburgh. He taught science and health at Hudson City School District until his retirement. Michael was also a coach for various sports teams during his teaching career. Following his retirement from HCSD, Mike worked at BAC Sales for many years.
Michael also enjoyed his careers in refereeing and umpiring and was once President of the Columbia-Greene Umpires Association. He had so many interests, among them where a member of the Glencadia Rod and Gun Club and also a fire commissioner for the Stuyvesant Fire Company. His many hobbies included his beloved game of golf, fishing, hunting, and playing cards. His biggest joy was his family, children, and grandchildren and he loved following their athletic and academic activities.
Michael is survived by his wife Janet, of Stuyvesant, NY, his daughters Alicia Richards (James) of Duryea, Pennsylvania, and Marissa Spence (Dwight) of Troy, NY, his grandchildren, Karinne, Karlie, Kelcey, Alana, Micah and Gianna, his brother John Rybka (Pam) and also cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two nephews, John and Darren. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, The Kidney Foundation, or the Stuyvesant Fire Company. Michael's family wishes to extend their gratitude toward the Valatie Rescue Squad, the Greenport Rescue Squad and the Columbia-Greene Dialysis Center for their care and kindness.
Visiting hours will be held at Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, Valatie, NY on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 from 4pm to 7pm, and funeral services will be held at Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at 11am. Burial will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Valatie, NY.
