Louis Robert Ruggiero Obituary

Louis Robert Ruggiero passed peacefully surrounded by family on August 4th, 2025 after a brave and courageous 2-year battle with cancer.

Lou was born in Mineola, NY to Louis and Margaret Ruggiero on January 28, 1953. He excelled in anything he set his mind to and was a proud United States Postal worker and truck driver throughout his career.

To know Lou was to love him. He could strike up a conversation with anyone he met, whether it was at a gas station pump or an estate sale. His energy and laugh was infectious, and his signature dance moves could tear up a dance floor or living room. Lou loved his family and those he cared for with every fiber of his being, and he will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Lou is survived by his loving wife Patricia; children Amie (Chris) Durcan, Edwin (Sara) Ruggiero, Zack (Erin) Ruggiero, Faith (Rob) Ruggiero and Louis Ruggiero; beloved grandchildren Logan, Olivia, Margaret and Owen; and former wife Maria (Greg) Powell who he still shared a deep friendship and love for their children. He was preceded in death by his parents Margaret and Louis Ruggiero, and brother Joey Ruggiero.

There will be a private celebration of life for the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
