Peter Clayton Gravlin Obituary

Peter Gravlin, a devoted husband, beloved son, and cherished member of the Stuyvesant community, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025, at the age of 67.

Born on May 25th, 1958, Peter lived a life marked by quiet strength, deep loyalty, and a quick wit that brought laughter to those lucky enough to know him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer Gravlin, with whom he shared a life of unwavering companionship and care. He is also survived by his parents, Clayton and Arlene Gravlin; his sister, Joanne Hodgens (Gravlin); his niece, Sarah Hodgens, and nephew, John Hodgens; and his great-nephews, Mateo Lugo (Sarah Hodgens) and Joseph Hodgens (John Hodgens), stepdaughter Joyce Gravlin, her husband Fan Meng and their three children, Luna, Rhea and Phoebe.

Peter was preceded in death by his beloved son, Loukas Gravlin. Peter loved Loukas deeply; his son's memory was the guiding light of his life, inspiring strength, love, and resilience through every challenge.

He was a graduate of Hudson High class of 1976 and Columbia-Greene Community College. He worked at Kinderhook Toyota many years in both Customer Service and Parts.

Peter was a lifelong patriot and history afficionado. He had a sharp sense of humor, always quick to crack a joke or deliver a playful tease. Even in difficult moments, he found humor, reminding others not to take everything too seriously and to find joy where they could.

His kindness, thoughtful nature, sense of fun, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Calling hours will be held at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home in Valatie, NY on Saturday, August 2nd from 10AM to 12 noon. There will be a brief gravesite service afterwards at the Stuyvesant Falls Cemetery, Stuyvesant Falls, NY

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you honor Peter's memory by doing something kind for someone or sharing a good memory in his name.
