Obituary of Martha M. Wolfe

Martha M. Wolfe, 97, of Hudson, passed away peacefully at her home on May 24, 2025. Born on January 1, 1928, in Hudson, she was the daughter of the late Martha M. and Carl A. Wied. A lifelong resident of Hudson, Martha was a graduate of Montgomery C. Smith High School, Class of 1946. Before her retirement, she worked as a Secretary for the Hudson City School District, where she was known for her dedication and kind spirit. Martha found great joy in camping and spending time with her family, cherishing the simple pleasures and making lasting memories with those she loved. She is survived by her children, Gary Wolfe (Patricia), Emilie Haag (Philip), and Christine Kastner (Bill); her brother, Martin Wied (Patty); her grandchildren, Kristy Haag, Justin Kastner (Lorae), Nathan Kastner (Laura), Ryan Kastner (Nicole), and Amanda Wolfe; and her great-grandchildren, Selah, Jacob, Asher, Jesse, Avalyn, Baylee, Caden, Taylor, Wyatt, Hayse Kastner, Max Hall, and Brandon and Alexandra (Wolfe). In addition to her parents, Martha was predeceased by her beloved husband, Walter G. Wolfe, and her brothers, Carl and Paul Wied. The family expresses their sincere gratitude to Community Hospice of Catskill, NY, for their compassionate care. A special thank you is extended to Judy Sickles, Sunshine Schulz, and Chaplain Matt McTique for their unwavering support and kindness. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, Rt. 9, Valatie, NY 12184. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM, officiated by Rev. Gary Gelfenbein. Burial will take place at Kinderhook Cemetery, Kinderhook, NY. In honor of Martha's love for animals, memorial donations may be made to the Columbia-Greene Humane Society, 111 Humane Society Road, Hudson, NY 12534.
