In Loving Memory of Derek Martin Ouimette
April 17, 2003 - May 22, 2025
With broken hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved son,
brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend, Derek Martin Ouimette, who passed away
unexpectedly on May 22, 2025, at the age of 22.
Born on April 17, 2003, Derek was a bright, kind, and spirited young man whose presence
brought light and joy to everyone around him. He had an infectious smile, a big heart, and a
natural gift for making others feel welcome and loved. His gentle nature, sharp wit, and
unwavering loyalty made him someone people were naturally drawn to.
Derek graduated from Columbia High School, Class of 2021, where he proudly played both
football and basketball. He was a true team player who brought energy and heart to every
game. After graduation, Derek spent the last several years working for Hometown Pools, where
he not only built a strong work ethic but also spent his days alongside some of his closest
friends - a job he truly loved.
In his free time, Derek enjoyed being surrounded by his friends and family, always bringing
laughter, warmth, and unforgettable memories to every moment. He had a special way of
lighting up any room and leaving everyone with a smile.
He is the deeply loved son of Barry Ouimette and Donna Ouimette (née Lebel), and the
cherished brother of Dylan Ouimette and Kendyl Ouimette and his four legged siblings Tux and
Maddie.
He leaves behind his loving grandmothers, Guilda Lebel and Marilyn Ouimette, and is
predeceased by his grandfathers, Clarence Lebel and Joseph Ouimette.
Derek was surrounded by a large, devoted family who will forever hold him in their hearts. He is
survived by: Uncle Thomas Ouimette, Uncle Mark Lebel and his wife Cathy Lebel, cousins Kyle
Lebel and Cortney (Lebel) Nelson, Aunt Tina (Lebel) Urbaitis and husband Joe, cousins Justin
Lebel and Ashley (Austin and Vienna Lebel), Brittany McIntyre, her fiancé Brad Amos (Evelyn
Amos).
A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at 12:00 PM at St. John the Baptist
Church, located at 1025 Kinderhook St., Valatie, NY 12184. Family and friends are welcome to
attend and help celebrate Derek’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations in Derek’s name may be made
to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Avenue, Menands, NY 12204.
Derek’s memory will live on through the love he gave, the friendships he forged, and the many
lives he touched. His absence leaves an emptiness that words cannot express, but his spirit will
remain with us always.
Gone far too soon, but never forgotten - Derek will live on in our hearts forever.
