Please share a memory of Paul to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Paul Raymond Sokol, 79, of Valatie, NY, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2025, at Ghent Nursing Home.
Born on June 28, 1945, in Manhattan, NY, Paul was the son of the late Raymond John Sokol and Louise "Luba" Karpowich. He spent his life working hard and staying true to his roots—first as a dedicated Dairy farmer, and later as a skilled Bus mechanic/Bus driver for the Ichabod Crane Central School District in Valatie.
Paul found great joy in tending to his garden, especially in growing sweet corn, which he proudly sold in front of his home each summer. He cherished time spent with friends and was known for always keeping in touch. A lifelong Outdoorsman and supporter of responsible gun ownership, Paul was a proud member of the Tri-Village Rod and Gun Club in Valatie and the National Rifle Association.
In 1975, Paul married the love of his life, Nina, at the Muitzeskill Reformed Church. Together they built a life centered around family, hard work, and community.
He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 50 years, Nina; two sons, Raymond Paul Sokol of Troy, NY, and Kevin (Jessica) Lee Sokol of Cairo, NY; his brother, Christopher John Sokol; and his cherished grandson, Greyson.
Friends are invited to call from 11:00 to 12:00 noon on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, Route 9, Valatie, NY. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon, officiated by Rev. Nick Becker.
Paul will be remembered for his steady presence, strong values, and the quiet joy he brought to everyday life.
