Harry "Gus" Augustus Munson, 78 of Stuyvesant, New York passed away surrounded by his loved ones on February 11, 2025.
Harry was born in Westport, NY to Harry and Ruth (Moore) Munson on August 29, 1946. He attended Westport School in Westport, NY. He worked for a number of years at ADM Milling in Hudson, NY; as well as owned his own carpentry business "Munson's Carpentry." He retired from his favorite occupation of all, "Papa's Daycare." He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and having some beers with his friends and family. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren most. He always knew how to make someone laugh. You could always find him hanging down by the river with his buddies or in the woods with one of his children or grandchildren.
Left to cherish their memories of Harry are his wife of a long 53 years, Louise (Broderick) Munson, his son: Stephen (Michelle) Munson of Old Chatham, NY, daughters: Deborah (Larry) Laurange of Valatie, NY, Chrissy (Jon) Munson of Livingston, NY and Cathy (Jeremy) Munson of Ghent, NY, grandchildren: Stephen Jr (Katie), Tyler (Stephanie), Jonathan (Taylor), Alyssa, Christopher, Austin, Zachary, Makenzie, Connor, and Meghin, great grandchildren: Lincoln, Jacob and Carter, brothers Frank (Bette) Munson of Stuyvesant, Jay (Judy) Munson of Crown Point, NY and sister Peggy Miller of Colorado Springs, CO. Sister in laws: Karen (John) Raible of Deland, FL and Sandra Nadeau of Franklin, NH. Brother-in-laws: John Van Tassell of Salt Springs, FL and George Ferguson of Mineville, NY. And a whole lot of nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased in this life by his parents, a son, parents-in-law, brothers: Kenneth, William (Sylvia), Sumner (Sally), Clyde (Barbara), and Richard, sisters: Kimberly Woodard, Helen Raymond, Susan Ferguson, Dorothy (James) Martin, Marian Gough, Patricia (Ed)(Bill) Cline and sister-in-law Diane Van Tassell.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Greenport Rescue Squad or Columbia Memorial Hospital Foundation. The family wishes to extend gratitude to the Greenport Rescue Squad and the Columbia Memorial Hospital Emergency Room staff.
Visitation will be held at Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home in Valatie, NY on February 17 from 9 - 11AM with the funeral service to begin immediately after. Burial will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Valatie, NY.
