Raymond J. Ponkos Sr., 93, of Stuyvesant, passed away on February 2, 2025. Born on April 1, 1931, in Hudson, NY, he was the son of Thomas Ponkos and Anna Petro Ponkos. Ray proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean War. After his service, he continued to work hard as a trackman, first with Conrail and later with Metro North, where he built a strong reputation. An avid New York Yankees fan, Raymond also had a passion for bowling, having achieved the rare accomplishment of a perfect 300 game. Raymond is survived by his two sons, Raymond Ponkos Jr. of Kinderhook and Randy Ponkos of Ghent, as well as many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly. He was predeceased by his siblings, Rudolph Ponkos, Thomas Ponkos, and Goldena Coleman. At the family's request, there will be no services at this time.
